We had a great chat with our host, 3x IRONMAN Champion and World Record Holder Dede Griesbauer and featured guest, Natalia Flores, Women For Tri Brand Ambassador and IRONMAN U Coach. Topics included the journey into the sport of triathlon, overcoming barriers to entry, and increasing gender equity and equality in triathlon.
Natalia Flores is a self-proclaimed back-of-the-pack, chocolate-lovin’ age group triathlete who enjoys motivating others to swim, bike, run and have fun.
She started her triathlon journey five years ago (in her late 30s!) with a women-only super sprint with the support of Tri It For Life (TIFL), an organization inspiring women of all ages, sizes, backgrounds and abilities to develop healthy lifestyles and welcome them into the sport of triathlon. She has been hooked ever since —including several 70.3 IRONMAN races. Her passion is to help more women (and young girls) to get active. Based in Charlotte, she serves as mentor and board member for TIFL. She is a brand ambassador for Women for Tri, Coeur Sports, It Could Be Me, bike goodr and Balega Impi. She also serves on the Coeur Sports Inclusion Committee and is an IRONMAN Certified Coach. She is a board member for the Harris YMCA and has been a volunteer coach for Girls on the Run.
A native of Argentina, Flores is an award-winning public relations professional who excels at helping brands connect with multicultural audiences authentically. On most weekends, you can find Flores training with friends and family – including her husband and daughter, who are also triathletes.
