We had a great chat with our host, Tammy Barker, female Australian Sports Announcer and featured guest, Michelle Cooper, Women For Tri Brand Ambassador, President of Triathlon Australia.

Tammy Barker is a female Australian Sports Announcer, Event Host and Presenter, recognized for her work with the IRONMAN Group at Australia and New Zealand events and many Australian Tourism Organizations. As well as being an Announcer for the last ten years, Tammy has been the Professional Athlete Liaison for IRONMAN Oceania since 2013 – a role that she is very proud to hold.
As an Announcer, Tammy takes pride in her natural ability to connect with professional and age-group athletes during their race experience and share their story. She also understands the importance of authentically engaging with spectators on race day that are personally invested in the athlete story.
Michelle Cooper is an experienced C-suite leader with a long history in health, adult education, sport, and utilities. She started her triathlon journey in 2011 having never ridden a bike or swum in open water. She has since gone on to race every distance except enticer which she is saving for a very special group of women in the future. Her race resume includes15 full distance finishes becoming an Ironman in 2013 and is now on the Legacy program waitlist. Michelle has also represented Australia 4 times at World Championships.
Along with being an avid triathlete, Michelle holds many leadership roles for the triathlon community.
She was the first female President of Triathlon Australia and is now in her second term. She is also the first female President of Oceania Triathlon and serves on the World Triathlon Executive Board and is the World Triathlon board liaison to the Women’s Committee and serves on the Continental Development Committee.
